Why the name? I want to help you bring the outdoors into your life indoors (at your computer screen or mobile device). But I really hope it inspires you to go outside and explore your own outdoor world wherever you live.

I’m glad you found me. If you love New England, writing, dogs, hiking, nature, photography and general random comments about life I hope you will come back often.  I am outside almost every day enjoying trails with dogs running, swimming, retrieving and exploring happily around me. Visit my Hike a Pup website for more photos of dogs enjoying the outdoors.

I became a regular hiker when we got our dog, Emma, who is now eleven years old. For a couple of years I participated in a women’s hiking group. From that came climbing the forty-eight  4,000 footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and then the Appalachian Trail in Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Virginia.

Besides hiking and enjoying nature I spend time writing. I write lots and lots of notes while I am hiking.  I take them out when I get back home and the scribbles barely serve to remind me of quirky thoughts I have while exploring.  But wet and wrinkled they still work better than trying to record my on-the-go thoughts by voice memo in my phone.

I published essays on the University of New Hampshire blog, New Hampshire Outdoors. Some of them will show up here. “Angels in the Snow” is one of my favorites.  Now I have  a novel, nature essays, BRCA articles and children’s books in various stages of disarray waiting for me. I am a NaNoWrMo winner of 2012, my first year attempting it. What a crazy experience.

By the way, my name in Meg. I live in a small country town in southern NH.  You will see bits and pieces of it and other towns around me as I share my explorations and fascination with everything wild.

I hope my blog helps you to bring the outdoors inside to enjoy.

  1. Thanks, Elsa. We’ll keep you up to date here or at Meg’s website or at her blog at Blogger called ? Hmm. Never can remember that address they assigned her. We’ll ask her to get a link into a post here somewhere. She is trying out blogging there because she feels we should not be taking up too much attention on this blog that was started to share her passion for the outdoors, not just us! Hi Meg,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and for your kind comments. I think your pack look like great fun 🙂 B.T.W. I don’t like the down command either but I could sit for England. I look forward to hearing more of your adventures.
