Covered Bridges, Foliage, Farms and Gorges of Vermont

October 5, 2013

This photo is actually taken along Route 101 in New Hampshire. It took us a while to travel across our own state in order to enter the state of Vermont.

Grafton Village Cheese. Impulsive stop to taste cheese…and of course buy some. Delicious.

The store offers tasting of about 10 cheeses at a time. You will also find a wide variety of spreads and jams and sauces. I bought a few Christmas gifts. Sam rushed me out of there before I could buy more. There is a petting zoo that limits your entry into the barn.

For all you farm equipment lovers… At Grafton Cheese.

On Route 30 just past the Grafton Cheese store and barn complex.

This was the longest free-standing (no middle support) covered bridge in Vermont.

Several attempts to preserve it failed and it is now closed to pedestrians and traffic.

Cairns made of river rocks alongside Route 30 just before Stratton Mountain.

Of course I had to build one too.

Taftsville Bridge on Route 4 just before Quechee, Vermont and the Quechee Gorge.

Reconstructed covered bridge in Quechee, Vermont.

Hurricane Irene washed the original bridge away in 2011.

Quechee Gorge on Route 4. There is a nice trail down to the water and along the river.
