Frost Advisory

May 14, 2013

Dropping temperatures in pockets of New England tonight. MA television channel weather reported temperatures tonight of 31 degrees or lower.

According to statistics May 20th is the average date for our last freeze. My mom always said, ” Do not plant until Memorial Day”. That is really tough for New Englanders.

After a colorless, long winter we are desperate to get out to our gardens. We want to get plants in the ground so that we have time to enjoy them. And more than that, we are worried that our short growing season will prevent harvest of tomatoes and such. Frost will come early and kill plants that needed the full summer to ripen.

Frost Damage.
